Being Who You Are And Being Ok With That

Being Who You Are And Being Ok With That

This above all: to thine own self be true - William Shakespeare

Today there is so much competition with technology that time to reflect upon yourself is limited. It takes time to get to know oneself. When you stare into a box, mindlessly swiping and watching content, it is difficult to get to know yourself. Think how much more a person would know themselves if today's technology did not exist.

However, technology will always be a part of our lives. So, we just need to find a way to coexist and still remember who we are as human beings. Perhaps taking a brief sabbatical from your technology would give you solace. Calling friends and inviting them out to break bread could be another method to move away from technology. Offering a conversation to someone that looks like they want to talk could be another way to give back to the world.

Time travels fast, and our lives will be a mere memory eventually. Using your life to connect with who you are as a person will pay off when you get older. If it takes you ten years to get to know yourself, regardless of when you start the journey, it will still take ten years. Many people live a lifetime and never really know who they are. In contrast, others find out right away. The secret for those that learn who they are is to be who you are. Do not try to impress anybody. Do things for yourself. Find something that brings you joy and happiness. Help others because it is the right thing to do, not because of some accolades down the line. Look forward to the wisdom that you will gain in your maturity. Every time you fail will make the next time easier. When someone treats you poorly, figure out why. Sometimes we need to learn what not to do in life.

Hopefully, after living a long life, you will know who you are. And remember, the journey is more important than the destination in this case. Have fantastic stories and adventures to share with others as you grow old. Share funny antidotes that will make you laugh so much that you can not breathe. And on your last day, and when you reflect on your life, do not have any regrets.
